High Gloss vs. Satin on Kitchen Cabinets

I am about to repaint my kitchen cabinets. They are currently painted with Satin/Eggshell. I love the look of high gloss, but would love some input.

Your cabinet door design mimics wood cabinetry. Satin would be the most gloss I'd use.

High gloss will show every dent, and ding, so would not be my choice. I would use satin or semi gloss, with semi gloss being my preference.

Satin would be best. High gloss looks best on very modern cabinets, not your traditional ones.

I used Satin on my modern kitchen cabinets, but oposit from Diana I think high gloss on this molding door looks very fashionable and extra, but usually with darker colours! You need to be good to pull it off with cabinet colour, countertop choice, but I have seen and it can look fabulous! Most likely very unpractical because of finger prints and other things! You don’t see finger prints on Satin finish! More safe, practical and more cosy would be Satin! Adding pictures with High gloss bar cabinet doors!

SATIN!!! Unless you are getting a 50K paint job, and can inform the counter tops, and what look you are after........: )

A high gloss paint job is incredibly time consuming and difficult to create, and difficult to maintain. Which translates into more money paid to a professional painter than the cabinets are worth. For sure.

I love modern high gloss cabinets but IMO I don't think high gloss in your kitchen is the way to go, Satin is very beautiful. Even tho I favor very modern, I think over time you might tire of the high gloss. I also don't believe in playing it 'safe'', but in your kitchen design, which has alot to look at, I think you will be very happy with the softer satin.

I agree with a satin or semi at the very most.

Even more important than the sheen is the "paint" product that will go on the cabinets.

Are you having a "pro" or is this DIY?

Are you familiar with the 2K waterborne products?

There are no products from any big box store, or even Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore that are rated for kitchen cabinets.

Some of the better known ones are ICRO, Centurion, or Renner.

You want one the "meets or exceeds KCMA standards".
