"Eventually", piece meal decorating in a kitchen is not the best way to go. If you can put back the back splash you had and wait until you are ready to do it right. A little this, a little that is just throwing good. money away.

The backsplash was part of the counter that got thrown away. The reason I said eventually is husband doesn’t want to paint the cupboards- I do- so until I win the battle-they are staying!

The faucet is bought just need to install it

I dont blame your husband. The cabinets are in very nice condition and look good. I would get the faucet installed. No, I dont like the stacked stone with your counters or your cabinets. Pick a color out of the countertops for a backsplash.

Thank you- they ARE in great condition- I want to paint to hopefully lighten up the area the kitchen is smallish. But I’m good with them for now.
The faucet will hopefully be done by this weekend. We have an opening with the tiler I’d like to take if we can get something picked out. Otherwise I have to wait a while-like months

The pattern on the backsplash looks bad with the veining of the countertops. If you are going to redo the kitchen at a future date, pick out some inexpensive subway tiles and save your money for the full redo.

We are redoing it right now?? I’m so confused why that is being mentioned. The counter was put in a week ago- was told to wait until it was installed to pick out the backsplash. That’s what I am doing now.

i call it a big fat no, too, sorry. i would love to see a ceramic subway in soft color that comes from the stone. The sample you have is too white and too chunky in texture, to harmonize with your lovely counters.

Instead of painting the cabinets to brighten the room, maybe you could use an upgrade to the actual lighting? I like the wood and think you should keep it :)

I’m going to the tile store tomorrow and was hoping to have a visual to go off. I also want a soft color- hoping for somewhat a weathers look. But I don’t know- was hoping for inspiration from here.

The other forums all have white cupboards- I am finding it difficult to match the cupboard and the counter.

Do you have a piece of countertop (sample, maybe), that you can take to the tile shop with you. Paint doesnt make the kitchen lighter, lighting does. Take a good look at your lighting, if you feel the kitchen is dark, then add more lighting. Led daylight type bulbs, 3500 at minimum, and 4000 is better.

What about buying box of cheap bigger size tiles ( 4 feet by 2 feet ) and installer will cut them to your measurements and you will have only few joints and you could find easy similar cheap porcelain tile in the tone of counter! Inexpensive way and clean look and easy installation!

Is that the wall paint that will be used? On my screen it doesn’t seem to work with the counters or cabinets- cool vs warm. But maybe it looks different IRL.
But if you’re repainting, the it makes sense to find the right backsplash that works with the warm countertops & cabs ( or best contenders) and try paint samples with that.

I do have a sample- it doesn’t have all the great earthy tones in it that the whole counter has. It’s a piece of mostly white. The pics are working out either. I just have to do it the hard way probably and bring home a bunch of samples.

No that is not the color- that’s the color we had with our old counters-it didn’t match then either. lol.

The color I am planning to do (it’s on the rest of my main floor) is BM Edgecomb- it’s warm and I think it goes with just about anything. I will sample before going ahead and painting though- just trying to get through this backsplash thing it’s killing me.

If you have left over piece from installed countertop ( is it taj mahal )? I would bring it with you and visit some tile outlets, where they sell left overs and usually you can find something in colour you have, some places even sell marble tiles in similar colour! And you could get a good deal! I live in Canada, I know some stores for that near me, but not in the USA! I made mini colour match and it looks like there is light gray undertones in your counter top!

Sorry I misread your post and thought you were just doing a new backsplash. Your countertops and cabs have a lot of yellow in them which can be tricky with a paint that leans gray. Even a warm gray. You can get a ceramic tile that has an edge to it that hints at painted brick - the color would be good with your kitchen but I don’t know if your paint will work.

That stone will be very hard to clean..do not use it! I would keep it simple…what color is the trim in your home? is it white?

You don't need more patterns--caused by tile size/grout lines. Find a large format solid piece. If you want to use tile go with large thin and tiny grout lines. Painting those cupboards would take you backwards investment wise. You gain nothing. Some day you might invest in white shaker profile, which is what everyone is trying for, but painting what you have won't get you close enough to make it worth the bother!!

So we found and ordered our tile! I will post the finished product later. The walls will be Edgecomb (the rest of the house is already that color) white trim (I think it’s called dove)
