Our primary bathroom was constructed as an addition in 1998 (we purchased the house in 2001). It was mostly builder grade materials (tile,vanity, huge jetted tub that sounded like a 747 was landing every time we used it, which wasn’t often, tiny fiberglass shower). And did I mention that it was over an unheated garage so it would be 59 degrees in there on winter mornings.

After 23 years we finally had enough and undertook a total overhaul. Tub - ripped out and tossed. Shower - ripped out and tossed. Floors - ripped out and tossed. Vanity, lights, accessories were removed and either donated or sold.

Where the tub was is now a 3.5’ x 6’ walk in shower with a bench, niches and a rain shower head with a hand shower attachment. Where the shower was is now a 47” seat with storage underneath and a tiled wall with robe hooks. The wall tile is a 12” x 24” with the shower floor being the same tile in a 2” square mosaic. The floor, which has zoned in floor heating with programmable thermostats is a 24” x 24” tile. The 60” vanity was replaced with an 84” maple (Smoked Cashew stain) one with quartz countertop (which was also used on both benches). All faucets, sconces and accessories are matte black. We also added a pocket door to the toilet room for privacy.

The project was completed a couple of days ago and we are thrilled with the room and wouldn’t change a thing.
