Help with bathroom design

Hi there! I'm planning to renovate my bathroom and want to include either one of these calcutta sinks. The idea is for it to be floating with a simple wood plank underneath (like photo 3). The shower will be curbless and I'd like to use large tiles (24x24 or similar) to avoid grout lines and for easy maintenance.
What color or design tiles would you recommend? I love the neutral oragnic look or even the marbling effect of porcelain but not sure if it would be too much against the sink. Also, would you recommend matching tiles floor to wall?
Thank you soooo much in advance 😊

I think it would be helpful if you posted a photo of the existing bathroom, as well as the direction you will be going in regard to changes. Include the dimensions of the room. Both sinks would have a large presence, so other components might best be more neutral, allowing the sink to be the star.

The room is about 4'9" X 12'. I want to do a full reno. Would love thoughts on whether it's better to use 1 large tile design from floor to wall or change it up?

Would appreciate if you have tile links.

    Much appreciated 🙏

Very pretty sink. I already see a lot of products around in your current bathroom pics. Where will you store things if you use a marble sink with zero storage. (I imagine the wood shelves are for towels only.)

I'd like a plain large tile in a soft off white color for the floor and walls. Let the sink be the start of the show.

I have a hallway closet so not concerned about storage in the bathroom. I want to keep it minimalistic as possible. What are your thoughts about this tile to go with the vanity? Thoughts on.running tile from floor to wall?

Either use the same exact marble inside the shower - or do not use marble or a faux marble tile. Definitely do not use faux marble near real marble.

I would do a soft white tile that matches the background shade of the tile. I am doing a similar style floating marble sink/vanity (not calacatta viola marble - calacatta vagli I think) - but for my powder room. I am also adding a wood shelf underneath in order to put a few baskets that will hold extra toilet paper and supplies needed in a powder room. I can't imagine using this for my primary bathroom. I wouldn't want to have to move items out of the bathroom to a nearby closet to store.

I also don't think that I would want a sink made out of marble that was used in my primary bathroom. However, I assume that you've thought about your decision - and believe that it will work for you.

Definitely let the sink be the star of the room!

agree with @dani_m08 on the tile - it will take a while to find the right tile for that sink and my bet is it will be very low key

the hall closet is where all the toothpaste, toothbrushes, hair dryer etc will go? Will you have built in med cabinets? (for the shower i’d move the niche to a side wall so one doesn’t walk in and see all those plastic bottles)

minimal looks amazing but requires lots of storage

The niche will be on the wall with shower head so not facing the door and in plain sight. This is my 2nd bathroom so not my ensuite and won't need all the storage.

I think it will be too matchy for the sink and shower marble to be the same (and very expensive).

Would appreciate examples of tiles if you could share 😉. I don't want to take away from the sink but I also don't want it to be too plain and white either.

@dani_m08, what tiles are you planning to use for your powder room?

I guess you just want a change - but... IMO - that bathroom already looks nice!

There are endless combinations and considerations, your taste/how you want bathroom to feel, and your comfort level with mixing and where. Budget is a big one as well.

I’d wait until you have decided on the sink as its shades are so important in subsequent choices. Bring home lots of sample tiles (sizes, plain, patterned) and when narrowed down to a few, purchase a box of each (that can be returned) so you can get a better sense of the outcome.

Personally, I‘d want the sink to be the star, using a solid 24x24 non slip tile on the floor and a smaller accent tile on shower floor and/or a wall(s). Suggest a black shower door and antique brass lighting/hardware. Good luck.

A big heavy sink like that is going to need a whole lot of steel to "float". As in steel brackets inserted into the framing, and into/under the marble console. That's a major engineering expense to make safe and usable both.

Add in the fact that it is a loud gaudy marble, with all the issues of marble, and you may want to rethink that choice.
