Sometimes the key is to optimize, not maximize. That is to say. the deep corner might be able to hold a lot of stuff, but if you can’t get to it, or get to it easily or without a pile of other stuff left on the floor, what good is it?

I have such a cabinet. I took out everything in the deep corner and rehomed it, either in my house or in the thrift store. The cabinet has only things in about 18” of accessible space, leaving a foot empty, but i can reach everything and easily put them away after use.

JoAnn, can you show us a picture? What do you store in the corner?

My Mom moved from a house with a large kitchen to a small apartment. When I was helping her put things away and organize in the kitchen, we talked about "prime real estate". The most used items get the most convenient location, while the potato masher that you use once a year goes in a box in the closet.

I agree with bpath - perhaps the solution is to rearrange so the corner holds things you rarely use, and common items are kept in a different place. It's amazing what a few changes can do!

My corner is basically empy, we use only the space we can easily access. The black hole in the corner is an empty abyss. Actually I have to change what I said, 18+” is empty, about 18” is in use.
