Agree with @eam44 - wood color that matches the cabinets. It willl help blend the island with cabs. Looks like seating on 2 sides? Consider how often & for what use the island seating will have - meals / hang out / work space etc. Cushioned seats & back supports are important if lots of meals will be eaten at island. But, maybe you don’t want to see the backs of stools / chairs over the top of the island. Do you need the chairs to slide completely under the island overhang to be able to use the length of counter prep space for larger projects like cookie baking etc? The most important function of chairs might be having a swivel type regardless of seat & back style.
