What is it about the exposure that presents as a problem?

She doesn’t like them showing.. that’s the problem. Pinterest has lots of laundry room pics to get ideas to hide those.

You could build some kind of narrow shelf with a closed front but you'd have to be able to remove the front somehow to access the shut-off and outlets. It might look kind of goofy. Unless you have an otherwise pristine, showplace laundry room I would probably leave it as is. Mine is like that and I've gotten used to it.

The most inexpensive thing to do would be to raise the machines by building a platform for them to sit on. However, that may not be practical from a servicing perspective and your own height consideration. I do agree that the plumbing and electrical connections are unsightly in an otherwise nice looking LR, but it is pretty universal now, so you are in good company.

Of course, being able to access the shutoffs in a hurry is a good thing. You don't want to have to move the machines out to get to that.

Some brands have pedestals for their washers/dryers that will raise the units as well as, in some cases, provide a storage drawer. My SQ front loader is on a pedestal, although it, unlike Kenmore pedestals, doesn't have a drawer.

The OP has a topload washer. They're not typically installed on a pedestal.
