update front house exterior

last year

I need help with updating the front exterior of our house. Some paint changes to make it look more elegant. We are keeping the grey vinyl siding. Maybe paint or stain the brick, shutters, front door or garage door.

Do not paint or stain the brick. Lose the shutters (not sized properly and look out of place). Paint the garage door the color of the second floor siding. Paint the front door a brighter color, like a blue. Add some color with landscaping and cut the grass.

Do I need to paint the molding of the garage and front door or should I leave them white?

Agree with tossing the cheesy shutters.

Have you considered painting the front door a contrasting color or upgrading your garage door?

Can you do a different railing on the porch, one that has horizontal rails? I don’t know the code in your area.

White is fine for that trim.

All trim stays white. Grey garage door. Yellow front door? Purple? Something fun. Not black or red I don’t hate the idea of limewashing the brick

    Such a pretty classic home!

    1. remove shutters

    2. paint the siding a neutral white…can it be painted? if not keep it the grey

    3. keep brick it is beautiful!

    4. paint railing and window trim black

    5. bulk up the pillars on the porch

    Gorgeous!

once the updates are made you can make a decision on front door color.

@Home interiors with ease. If I keep the siding as is what color should the garage door be?

Same color as the siding. Th garage door should not be a design element. You want it to blend.

I am wondering if there is a way to enlarge the pillars without removing the existing railing. Also what are your thoughts on more decorative thicker trim on the top of the windows on the second floor?

No and they do not look like they would fit under the lowered soffit. Be a lot of work as the railings would need to be modified as well.

I would not as you have a fairly simple type house and that is not typical for the house style.

The garage door could be black…would be gorgeous next to the red brick..it will also give the front a wider larger look without the garage being a light color to chop it up. you should be able to bulk up posts without removing the railing…that would be something to talk to a carpenter about.

    Don't laugh☺️

    very quick mock up

I would certainly remove the shutters, at least those on the lower level, and probably paint the trim on the peak above the entry door to match that of the other three peaks.

I would paint the garage door, and remove shutters that are on the brick part, and leave those on the second floor. They add a bit of interest, to the house. I also like the railings, just like they are, and I would not change them. If you dont have plants in the flower beds that flower, then, I would add some. Its hard to tell on that, since no idea what time of year you took that picture.

We are in the process of removing the shutters and painting the garage door the same color as the grey siding. I am in between these blue options for the door. Which option would be the best? Thank you

I love the paired columns that home interiors showed above. You want the brightest of your four choices because it will read darker under the porch.

I like the idea of painting the garage door the same as the siding so it doesn't stick out. That leaves only the porch components painted white and the most visible. I'd leave the entry door white so it doesn't disappear at the rear of the porch (see how the dark door in this inspiration photo is "lost").

I definitely would not do the black windows, trim and railing as it makes it look like black hole's and the entire look dark and dreary.

I created this with a AI. Thoughts?

I am not sure about the color of the front door
