Hard to tell from your photos whether there is any logic to the position of your bed and furnishings.

I would NOT place the cubbies and chest of drawers & the shelving unit in the positions where you have them placed. I cannot offer an alternate location because I cannot see the rest of the room.

Clutter created by more shelves should be avoided at all costs.

The positioning are simply due to my living circumstances. i live with my girlfriend and we have literally every item we own in just this room. therefore the dressers need to be together in the middle of the room, as to have easy access to each of our things.

we have tried every single bed position there is, this is the one best suited (bedroom facing door directly as you walk in, with view of window). perhaps this picture provides context. (ignore the mess we are waiting for a new desk to come so have stuff out).

i want to improve the curtains but simply can’t due to having 2 kittens, and they absolutely will destroy any curtain available to them 🙄

If you want any valuable suggestions I recomment you post a floor plan of the room showing all dimensions as well as location of doors and windows. Also a list of the furniture you want to keep. Then perhaps we'll be able to give you suggestions for how to optimize your space.

IMO start by getting a really goodcloset oragnier type shelving that closet is a mess . The rest of the sopace is just too cluttered WhT style is the bed , under bed storage is huge help with crowded bedrooms . I stored all my shoes one time under the bed and all our off season clothes too.. Yes we need a to scale plan too

We cannot see enough of the room to give you any solutions to the storage problem you both seem to have, all we see is a lot of clutter. Please post more pictures so that at least we can see the entire room or even better, post a hand drawn floor plan showing dimensions and doors and window location. The professionals here are not in your room but with more info might come up with a much better furniture layout for you.
