The beams are reading darker than they really are

I see stained cabinets? What color are the cabinets going to be? Appliances? Countertops? Confusing as well as we are looking at what appears to be the same kitchen with flooring both straight and herringbone in the same space? As well as what appears to be different wood types?

I would keep the floors light.

It's preference. I prefer the light. The darkness of header and posts is overwhelming all else, and the pendants at that size in multiples? Same. A bit of visual Overload.

IMO the dark beam and columns are too distracting

Thank you for your comments and this last photo is very helpful for never thought about painting the beam color. That is how they were and I didn’t think there was much I could do about them. The countertops are Mont Blanc quartzite. The cabinets will be painted White Dove or Sea Pearl or something else on the off-white family. The herringbone is just in the entryway- it used to be very colorful slate. The wood should all be white oak. That’s good feedback about the pendants..

I actually like the cabinets and would not paint them. Might be too much white. If you paint the beams and columns white, the stained wood cabinets add some needed contrast.

IMO the beams are a huge issue and should be covered in drywall not be made a huge statement then go light for floors and IMO you should have seen both sapmples before going ahead so in my world not happening tomorrow

The light gray stone in the fireplace is lovely with the natural oak. Your fireplace photo is breathtaking with that floor.
