I think the room requires the warmth of the existing wood floor. Perhaps you can make the room appear lighter by selection a large, light area rug.

Websites like Floor and Decor allow you to try flooring out in your room virtually on the computer.

Or maybe go w the darker of the 2 options I shared since that one is warmer, right? If so, what color leather sectional do u think might look good? Thank you!!!

Post images of the rest of the room. Have you considered changing the fluorescent tubes under the fireplace hearth ledge to LED tubes? The color would be better

Flooring: If keeping your side and coffee tables, I’d choose flooring that works with their warm undertone.

Seating: color is personal but given high usage, maybe avoid very light shades (visually though would be nice with the above mid range flooring). Also consider adjoining spaces if wanting consistency and are you keeping what’s on the wall and rug?

Layout: What exactly is a power sectional and do you have an arrangement in mind? Have you considered additional/other types of seating. Now is the time to do a to-scale floor plan and test different options.

Have you done your reseach on installing over wood? not a pro but follow one of the large flooring groups on FB and there are lots of failed LVP installs over wood (also make sure that your doors will clear the higher floor, you don’t trap your dishwasher etc)

MY advice is to not lay LVP over the wood it will affect many things as mentioned above even your DW might not fit after the flooring is in. Mybe the planks with no backing that are glued down might be okay . You need to talk toa flooring installer before making any decisions. I like LVP but I find your floors are quite nice and for sure can work with modern style which IMO you have already . I think much better lighting all LED 3500-4000K will have huge effect on the space . I dislike sectionals so how about a change there to sofas and chairs . You have a large space why not 2 sofas and 2 chairs for a big change . You have a ton more comfy seating and honestly I would not do all reclining anyway. So think of layout and maybe ottomans instead of recliner type seating . I do not see one table lamp or floor lamp so that for sure . I think a really large light colored rug is agreat idea and invest in a TV that pops out of a cabinet in the bedroom please to see the back of the TV is just not pretty .I would go probablt a light colored leather maybe a nice plae green or even white . I have white leather in out well used LR it is 18 yrs old still looks awesome with 3 huge dogs We did 2 sofas and 4 chairs in our large space the chairs are 2 matching to the sofas and 2 in a very light aqua I love that we can change the layout drom time to time or even depending on how we entertain.. BTW I love the photo wall and how about the trim color for the walls in a matte finish for a bit of a change

Some lvp is stripier than others. That only becomes apparent when you lay out a full box instead of a single sample plank. Another well regarded source is direct-to-consumer Modine from Flooret. Can you refinish the wood floors? It seems a shame to put plastic over real wood.

I don't see any reason to change the wood floor. It's the best feature of the room.

• Not sure why the ledgestone on the wall appears to be painted and flat, but that's the appearance. The color leans a bit green. Has it been painted?
• The TV should be mounted without tilting the screen. See adjusted image.
• The area rug on the floor should be turn the other direction, see adjusted photo.
• A replacement sectional could be a caramel leather

I totally understand the desire to change things you've lived with for years, but it seems counter intuitive to install a less quality product over a very high end product. I have LVP and it's very nice (Cortec Calypso Oak) but I chose that product because I was going over ceramic tile on a cement floor in an area that had moisture. Not a lot of options so I chose the best one for all the constraints.

I agree with Beverly about a rug in a light color especially if you do a lot of entertaining. The noise level bouncing off all the hard surfaces really impacts the feel of a gathering. Carpet will help a lot with good acoustics. You can buy a lot of carpet for the cost of installing LVP.

If you're concerned about carpet upkeep, take a look at FLOR carpet tiles. Someone spills something on the light color carpet, just pop in a new tile. The designs are really nice and many of them don't even look like carpet tiles.

I see you love nature, embrace it on your floors. FLOR also is a highly sustainable company and have been for decades.
