Bathroom Remodel Help! What do I do with this shower?

Just bought a house and planning to gut the master bath. Existing shower is an odd configuration. My contractor will be squaring it off, but what do I do about the drop ceiling? Remove it and tile to the ceiling? Or square that off too to align with the new shape of the shower floor and embrace the enclosed shower? Perhaps an arched opening?
I’m going for a French country, traditional, earthy look…probably Zellige subway tile in the shower. Any thoughts about how to configure the build of the new shower would be helpful!!

remove it all together. Looks like you have other light sources.

I'd think about that tile choice. I would choose a large format smooth tile for easier cleaning.

90’s builders loved faux travertine, jacuzzi tubs, soffits, and 45° angles. The more of those things you can remove the better.

I’d be tempted to move the shower to where the tub is and extend the vanity, and do a gorgeous bit of cabinetry

You are gutting it. Before you gut? You do a drawing with every wall and window and opening and doorway to scale. You plan....You show the entire thing, where the primary bedroom is, the closet, all of it. Where the toilet is, shower is, the tub, vanity and all. . Feet and inches.

Maybe every element will remain in same place. Maybe it will not. But you BEGIN with the walls : ) the shower is one element.....one.

First your contractor is not a designer so get one of those right now . This is gut job not one piece at a time and before you do anything you have a plan in place . If you want any help here do as Jan said . A to scale floor plan with all measurements claerly marked and IMO only the toilet place marked and if you can move that then nothing in the space .Post that drawing here in jpeg format in a comment DO NOT START another post . Right now IMO you get the help then the contractor does the work to follow the plan .The tile choices are made after the plan
