I like the new rug. The gold tables and pouff don’t work as well. I’d look for a new coffee table. Maybe mahogany (to pick up the rust in the rug) and glass.

New rug is great! You're just not used to it and it is VERY different so it strikes you as wrong. I agree that the wood tables/accessories look better than the gold, but everything else is working.

I like the new rug better than the old one. I think you should add a few throw pillows for the sofa that echo the reddish tone in the rug. I'm not absolutely sure what kind of red that is--maybe it's more of an orange rusty red? If so, a few accessories in "paprika" color should help pull things together.
