Need help with window colours! (white house)

We are getting new windows, they will be aluminum clad so the finish is a little better than painted vinyl. I'm torn between black/white or maybe a colour that feels more cottagey? Would love some opinions. (We are located in Toronto, the house was built in the 40s for families that needed housing after the war). I'm most likely going with a 2 over 2 double hung. I've tried to mock it up like this.

Cute house! And those hydrangeas -- I'm jealous. I voted white because I think it will give you more flexibility on door color. But I like the black too.

I would do white windows. Going black feels like, cottage wanna be farmhouse :-) It is so adorable. Think picket fence, arbor, etc.

If your house wasn’t so cottagey cute, I might say black, but I vote for white. Also more flexibility with white for any future change to the clapboard color. The sage green -no flexibility.

White is most flexible. My house in Maine got dark green sashes in 1908 when it was enlarged and that’s what we are returning too. Not black on your house.

Were the roof not so light and appearing to be in very good condition, I might go with a dark bronze window.
