Lovely room! I love library dining room combos, and your table, rug, and windows are gorgeous.

Are there any other light fixtures seen from this room? Even if not, can you show us any other ceiling lights in the house? They certainly don’t have to be matchy, but it might give an idea.

I lived in an antique home and i tended to be somewhat of a purist so I may be biased about not going too modern You have such a special room. I think if you can’t find a vintage light stick with good reproductions. i always liked Visual Comfort for lighting.

@Jilly. The only other chandelier in the condo is a French Empire style that I found on Facebook Marketplace. We have it in the sunroom/home office.

Best room I've ever seen posted on design dilemmas. I've spent years looking for the right chandelier so I feel your pain. I've gotten four different fixtures from these folks over the years and am so sad they are now going out of business. They have an incredible sale going on now. Some of these are too over the top for your space, but there on plenty on here that could work:

If you cannot find one fixture that is the right size, consider shopping somewhere for two smaller matching chandeliers. It will bring a more library look to the space than a dining room look, which isn't a bad thing.

Is that stained glass in the window? Is there a color (or colors) in there that you can use to play off the paint and the chandelier? This room is AMAZING - I'd be your dinner guest any day. :-)

The light in my traditional dining-room-turned-reading-den is a transitional style with those exact bulbs, I really like the shape of them. We have it on a dimmer.

I think a Tiffany style could be lovely, too, especially with having a library feel:

Since you already have plenty of lighting in there, I think you could go with something more of an accent, more unique, not having to focus as much on function … on it being your only light source.

To be honest, I don’t think I could even hope to pick out anything better than what you would. In fact, can you come help me with my house? 😁

IMO a linear fixture with shades would provide a soft light to the room.

@Kay p I bought the condo at the end of March. I moved in at the end of September. Honestly, none of the rooms have been completed yet. For once in my life I’m trying to take my time and get it right the first time. Let me see if I can get some pix of the living room which is separated by pocket doors to the dining room. Heads up though , the artwork hasn’t been hung yet.

Take time so your home has a collected vibe, nothing more Ralph Lauren than that! Also, someone else should chime in here about the correct size, but I think you want something at least 32" in diameter.

I like having some repetition in a home and think having two Empire lights is great. I also like that they lend a feeling of looking original to the home, even though they are not. (I moved into an 1852 house full of Ikea fixtures, replaced them over the years with lighting from many different decades. There was some repetition and some one offs, they all looked great together.)

What a stunning room and looking for six months I’m sure will pay off. Step back and consider the basics, so you can at least narrow down:

Shape (regarding size there is lots of info on line regarding proportions).

Metal: I’d continue the antique brushed gold look and its warmth will be eye catching as you enter room and consider its effect while dining.

Style: thinking whimiscal with a vintage feel might suit your tastes.

I’m way overdo to find a dining room fixture myself, but I think I like lighting that focuses down, somewhat. With dimmer of course & some additional lighting.

I wonder if an upscale billiard style , or maybe that’s too pub- like, so maybe chandelier type with little shades.

The second one is a little bold and may be more modern than you want, but it makes such an impact I had to include it. @Kendrah. Yes, the plan is to hang a mirror over the desk. I found a large vintage mirror several months ago at a flea market for $20. The chairs in front of the window I bought a few weeks ago at an estate sale.

You are a great thrifter. I'd hang tight until you find the right lighting for the right price at a flea market or estate sale or FBMP. You are clearly skilled in this department! If you need something to tide you over just install some inoffensive Home Goods crap.

I got a French Empire, signed solid brass chandelier, for $5 at a flea market. Paid $200 for rewiring (it was a really complex piece.) Saw the exact same piece on 1st Dibs for $3,000. Ah, few things better than a great flea find.

@Kendrah You found a great find at the flea market. I found the dining room rug and pad on Facebook Marketplace for $160. The building I live in was built in 1913. There are six units in the building which all have the same floor plan. It was originally built to house city government workers wives once the husband passed. At least that’s what we were told.

FWIW I have always loved the Chisholm line from Urban Electric, super simple but can be made custom with different colors which is fun I think - I saw a marigold yellow one IRL and it was divine

I think the juxtaposition of a more modern light would look fantastic.

I guess it depends on the look you want. I am a purist/traditionalist and really dislike most of the modern light fixtures. But that's just me.
