Something is off with my kitchen- opinions needed!

The house plan we found has absolutely everything we want and love except for the kitchen! It initially had a corner pantry which was an eye sore in my opinion. The photo shown is how the corner pantry was eliminated, however, I’m not liking that it shifted my oven over nearly into the dining area. Any suggestions are appreciated! The window can’t be moved, but can be enlarged. Thank you!

Could you move your refrigerator over to the right of the sink and then move the range and ovens up closer to the pantry?

I need a to scale plan on graph pper with every measurement clearly marked and IMO until you get an actual plan you do nothing more. Ther eis no way to help without all the measurements and none of the cabinets should be in yet since you have no actual plan.. I now see a walkin pantry is that the new one . Post the plan here in jpeg format in a comment then give us as much info as to what is already in and waht can be changed . This is what happens when you do not have a complete plan before anything is done. Please do not start another post.

We certainly need a photo with more context. The lazy Susan and diagonal upper cabinet need to find I’m reading the plan correctly. Why not move the fridge down to the left by the dining area- makes it easy for guests to get drinks. Or it goes on the window wall next to the pantry door. It’s the start of a good kitchen plan- I love pantries in that location and the best kitchens have no inside corners…

Well I don’t know why it’s posting two but here is the corner I don’t like in yellow and two fridge locations to play with

I lengthened the sink-wall run to accommodate the cooktop. Most cooking prep happens between the sink and the cooktop, and it’s convenient to the dishwasher and trash. Wall oven is on the other side of the pantry, and the island is the landing zone for it (I have had that in two homes and find it convenient.) Left of the oven is maybe specialty cooking serving pieces, maybe glass for display. and the cookie jar.

If you have a standard-depth refrigerator, I would recess it into the pantry.

A separate question, the table where it is shown? Straight view into the bedroom hall, seems to be in a traffic zone so folks will always be walking around the table?

Based upon the limited information provided, consider the concept of removing the entrance to the pantry from the flow of the kitchen.

Normally a pantry is needed in the preparation of the cooking and rarely needed during the actual cooking process. Those things needed regularly in the cooking process can be stored in kitchen cabinets and those things not always needed can be stored in the pantry nearby.

I would categorize your current kitchen layout as "off" also, unless you have unusual cooking habits.

6 days is a long time to wait for answers to our questions so IMO until you answer those and show us the space or I for one am done.

It takes time to correct this kitchen.

I think the entire space needs to be reworked to have proper relationships with the other spaces of the home and the site. The problem started with "house plan we found" and now it is how do we fix this mess without compromising the other spaces. Good design is not found it is created.

I accidentally selected two and it won’t let me delete one, but here are the dimensions. I love the hidden pantries I’m just not sure how to make it work with this space! Please noons suggest a completely throw away and start over or any rude insulting comments about our house plan. I’m happy with everything about our home except this corner pantry situation.

What's making you happy? What is it that you like about this plan?

We are all different, but when I look at the snapshot posted above, I would not be happy.

There seems to be in general a lack of windows. None of the bathrooms show a window, and the kitchen/dining/living look to be surrounded by other rooms, with the single kitchen window on one end and probably windows at the far end of the space.

There is a vault shown on the plan, but not in the rendering. Its ridge is at an odd place.

I have no idea where the front door is.

What so many do not understand, is that the people here are trying to help you get the best possible house. We really do have your best interest in mind. For some, it's really difficult to admit that they don't know what they don't know. They come with plans that check a list of wants, but fail to consider how the house will live.

How do you plan to use the pantry? If it is for storage, then there is a lot of space given over to walking around. You could extend the kitchen into that space, and have a reach-in pantry instead.

Too long? give over some of that space to the closet on the other side of the wall. The counter opposite the island becomes a storage and display area for dining room needs. and a cookie jar.

As I suspected. That 45° cabinet was an awkward attempt to balance the corner pantry. This is why you show the whole plan and why one decision affects other decisions. Get rid of the corner pantry with any of the many options you’ve been shown, and get rid of this weird short inside corner. A straight run is a better use of space and looks better.

Can you move your fridge to the right of your sink and enlarge your window to about 7 feet?

I also shifted the entry door on the left and lengthened the cab on the right wall.

A prep sink on the left side of the island might be handy.

"I love the hidden pantries I’m just not sure how to make it work with this space! "

If you locate the entry to the pantry in the hallway the pantry will automatically hidden and still have easy access and not interrupt the flow of the kitchen. Your friends can spend hours in the kitchen trying to figure out where the "hidden pantry" is.
