Remodeled bathroom in 2010 but now is outdated? Mini makeover ideas?

Does this bathroom mesh with the rest of the home? Meaning does the kitchen and other bathrooms look the same? I wouldn’t do much of anything if this bathroom is a part of a whole home scheme. However, if this is the outlier bathroom and all else is ‘updated’ (what that exactly means is unique to all homes) then would have to ask to see photos of the other spaces. If this bath is the beginning of other remodels throughout the home then you would start with inspiration photos of what works for your home/you. So more info needed.

The bathroom looks like it would fit in a circa 2000 Spanish/Mediterranean style house.

What is the style and age of the house?

House was built in 1980 and I don't know what you call the style but I'm sure it is not Spanish. I uploaded a outside picture and the master bedroom just outside the bathroom.

My main interest is getting rid of the oil rubbed bronze(ORB) including the acccent in the shower stall. I can still get some tile pieces in the same line here https://miletile.net/catalogsearch/result/?q=Montagna+Lugano

What if I cut out the ORB accent and made an inset out of the mosaic tiles? It is 5" between tiles so that may be a weird fit. Or just buy some of the 20" and cut 4.5" pices to put in to divide the top and bottom?

Any thoughts on changing all the trim to brushed nickel? Painting the vanity and mirror frames white? Thanks for any suggestions.

You can't cut tiles out of the shower without compromising the waterproofing. That makes it an all or nothing--keep as is or do it all over.

To me the countertop is the most offensive, especially since it doesn not go with the tiles. Can it be replaced with something solid color ish? Light creme or ivory? Chrome faucets, new lights and mirrors, maybe paint the cabinets and you have a new bathroom.

The current counter is very yellow and the floor tiles appear pink.

I think people wanted to see the other baths and kitchen. Do they match this baths style?

I don’t think you’ll get to a glowing white bathroom without redoing the whole room. If you would like to achieve a more spa/zen feel then my lean is towards quietening things down and going a bit monochrome. Yes , the counter is a very busy one, so rethinking that would go a long way. I’d shift the linen to black and stay with the oil rubbed bronze hardware.

There is no partial replacement of shower tile. The glaring mis match to me is the orange trim, I would start by painting all of it white.

Paint walls and trim a white that will compliment the new white countertop (with very little veining). The vanity
could be painted, but I think a new vanity that is less ornate would help calm thing down. Brighter linens in warm colors and wall art also in brighter colors would help.

Minimal cost= new mirrors and sconces that are less ornate….be careful with new ‘white’ anything as a bright white will look completely wrong with your tile. Think ‘bone’ white if you do anything at all with the counters or paint. But honestly, unless you redo the vanity and tile accents you really won’t see much impact of a change. I’d leave well enough alone if this bath matches your kitchen and you don’t have big renovation plans elsewhere throughout the home.

Maybe paint the walls a Terracotta to go with the floors. Paint the wood vanity, doors and trim in Antique Ivory. Ivory towels. Here is a sketch of the concept...these are not paint colors, just trying to visualize.

The walls were beige and I just changed them to Shoji white.

I am happy to paint or chnage the golden oak to white but where does one start and stop? The door leading to the bedroom. White on one side and oak on the other? What about the edge? What about the door jamb?

I would paint all the stained trim in the house! Average 1980 stained trim doesn't have to be saved ... but I tend to not like most stained trim!

While I would like it if all the trim was white, that's a HUGE deal. 4,000 sq/ft house with oak 6 panel doors everywhere, crown moldings, oak windows, etc. It would take me years or $20,000 to pay I am guessing.

Our leading idea is just a new vanity top, though it is 9 feet long and likely to be $$$
