Can’t decide if the windows look better w or w/out the mullions.

I would be no mullions vote you have a great view why have it blocked at all .

Just an FYI mullions separate window units. Muntins divide window panes. Some are now functional some just decorative .

Also i’ve never understood why one would think muntins would obstruct a view.

What is the architectural style of the home? Are you replacing all the windows? Are you discussing simulated divided lights or grids between the glass?

So nice to see your plate arrangement up. Looks great.

The decision depends more on the outside than the insider of the home.

The mullions are charming if that is your goal.

The style of my home is traditional. I guess they r actually called mintins. They are decorative only, pop out wooden grids., accessible from the inside. Thank you all, I welcome the input!!! I personally like them but probably because I associate them w traditional homes .

With your decor I would say with muntins (and they won't block the view) but I haven't seen the exterior of your home.

And yes, your plates look good on the wall...

I think they do impede the view here you go

I had those pop out wooden window grids in our previous home in the seasonal Midwest and found myself taking them out during spring/summer to better enjoy the outdoor view. I really liked them best in the fall/winter. I never felt like they impeded the view when standing at the window. They do look pretty in your setting.

As another user pointed out, if the home is traditional in style, then I would say add the window grids. I think it's important to keep the style consistent.

No to the grids. They detract from the view IMO, and make the interior of the window harder to clean. And nothing detracts from a great view like a dirty window...

I like full open view. However, a grid can look nice and be charming. What kind of traditional is it? You have a 9 over 9 window shown. That's more traditional leaning into Georgian and Colonial. 6 over 6 can also be traditional to Colonial. I've seen 4 over 4 a lot in older and more traditional homes in the midwest. Especially with the fuller length windows like yours. Multi upper with single lower can be traditional. And the 1 over 1 you currently have is also traditional at this point.

The whole point of those grids is that long ago it was hard to produce a big sheet of glass. Expensive. So smaller pieces would be framed and set together. Less expensive. After float glass came out in the 50's, big sheets became less expensive. The grids more decorative or somewhat protective. Windows became more of a style choice than anything else.
