I think the willingness to biy a new blade often is the key.

But what are you cutting?

When I'm here I think trees and shrubs. While I DID cut down a tree once with a corded sawzall I mostly take my small chainsaw off the stick for that type of thing now.

If I needed a new pruning saw, just for lower branches, I would get a small cordless/battery chain saw with as many teeth per inch as what's available.

For higher limbs, I still like my pole saw. It's lightweight even though it can be difficult to maneuver in the sometimes heavily congested upper branches (I can imagine the damage I could do, wielding even a small chain saw up that high, on a pole no less). ;-)

The pole saw has a saw and a clipper, so it's handy for even the smallest twigs and branches but will handle limbs up to ~3" diameter. So far, I've been able to do a very good job with it.

The chain saw on a pole is nice for those larger, up high branches but I would rarely have a need to remove or work on any that big.

I have a Bosch cordless reciprocating saw, and a pack of pruning blades that cut green wood with ease. Nowhere as fast as a chain saw but it’s something I can manage.

That I've been very happy with, so far.

Small chain saws cut cleanly and rapidly but you need a pretty good grip in case the tip catches on wood and jerks the saw in your hands. For an experienced user, it's nbd but a novice does not want to learn the hard way and have it flip out of your hands while running at high speed. A good stance while running so you don't lose your balance and a strong grip is necessary.

The Sawzall type is safer but not bullet proof of course and the vibration can be an issue upon extended use.

Caution must be used with all power equipment and physical ability must also be taken into consideration. If a piece of equipment will cut a branch, it will have no trouble gouging or cutting off an extremity.
