None. I asked AI and Tall Fescue and Perennial Ryegrass are supposed to be okay. Bermuda grass is sensitive to pee but grows fast and will recover with care. Hose down where they pee. Poo is not harmful if picked up.

We ended up using Shredded Cedar BARK for the bare patches of lawn. Has to be the soft outer bark. Wets down and stays in place. It's soft and the dogs love to lay on it

The grass grows up in between the shreds so use a weed wacker... the grass should grow tall but not fall over, and the mulch should not get destroyed by a mower.

The sprinklers went on for 5 min twice a day in Summer and that really helped keep down brown spots (California). We had lots of dogs lol.

Matthew, can you please narrow down where you are in AZ? If you live in the deserty part of AZ then the grass you want will be either bermuda or St Augustine. If you live in the elevated part of AZ, then you'd be looking at fescue (in the shade) and Kentucky bluegrass in full sun.

Dogs and grass get along just fine if you keep the grass fertilized. Well, if you have two Labrador puppies, they will tear up some grass, but if you have the grasses I mentioned, they should come back just fine. As for pee spots, that is entirely a fertilizer issue. If you develop pee spot, the problem can be remedied quickly by dropping a heaping handful of table sugar on the spot. Within 3 weeks the stunted yellow spot will turn into a tall, dense, and dark green spot. Follow that up with an organic fertilizer over the entire yard. If you normally use chemical fertilizers, I strongly recommend adding one app of organic each year to keep your soil healthy. I have switched entirely to organic fertilizer since 2002. It does make a difference.
