Fantasy brown counters and copper metal tone lighting

I am beginning a big kitchen remodel with an addition to include a Mudroom/laundry/half bath. My living room fireplace is my inspiration, evoking an organic, warm feel in my traditional New England cape style home. The fireplace is shown here. Design decisions include carrying the red oak floors into the kitchen, neutral linen shaker cabinets, large white cast iron apron front sink, and a mix of both butcher block and leathered Fantasy Brown calcite counters. The backsplash will be FB too. I am considering copper metal lighting and hardware to add depth to the organic feel. I haven’t chosen my exact FB slabs yet, I am awaiting the arrival of a few more before making the final choice. I’ve included a picture of the slab that is available. I am looking for thoughts on using copper tones with FB.

Here are some pics of fantasy brown and copper.

I think a lot of this depends on layout, how much hardware you are using, where the FB and walnut are. I think an FB backsplash can easily overwhelm a kitchen.

Thank you for the photos. Yes FB can, if used in excess overwhelm, particularly if there is a lot of variation and movement in the slab. I haven’t selected my slabs yet for this reason. I dislike a busy look with varying elements and patterns, which is why I am keeping cabinets and flooring subdued. The FB will be the only dramatic element. The pictures you offer seem to suggest copper can be a complimentary metal. I was thinking of using it only for lighting and hardware, not the sink. Thank you for the reply.

We chose the fantasy brown for our countertops for our rustic new home also (well it’ 2yrs old now but still new to us). I wanted a copper farmhouse sink SO BADLY but the builder talked us out of it (said it would be a pain in upkeep).😕 I took his advice since i have a lot of health issues I was worried it would be just more to deal with so I purchased a dark brown ceramic farmhouse sink from Home Depot (it was that or go with a standard stainless one from cabinet guy)he & everyone had doubts but they agreed it looks fantasic after everything was finished!! I love it (plus it was approx 3x cheaper than the copper one but sometimes I wish I’d dug my heels in & got the beautiful copper one lol). p.s. I just now noticed we have the same dishwasher as well (i think) I loved the GE Slate colored ones and they go well with the the fantasy brown counters/island & rustic stained knotty alder custom cabinets.🤩 Your homes look absolutely Beautiful from the pics I can see!!🤩
