This app is hard to use. Here are photos of Incredible
White walls and ceilings. I notice it’s off white, but I’m wondering if it’s worth the time and cost to paint it extra white as I’m painting walls gray, ideally from someone who has made the change.

Please don’t comment on the gray on gray and tell me to rip up all my LVP. The builder selected that and I’m doing my best with it. Truth be told, it’s growing on me.

Ceilings, should be flat. Walls, should be matte or eggshell, trim, should be satin or semi gloss. If your ceilings look good, then I would leave them, since its not that long since they have been painted. Its up to you about off white, versus white white. I prefer white white for ceilings, and in some cases, ceilings, the color of the walls.

If this home is up North, or if you have any issue with Winter Blues due to lack of light, I would brighten the ceiling.

I might go to Chantilly Lace or equal.

As long as you are re-painting, SW recommends Extra White with Big Chill and I think you will be happy with the crisp fresh look of bright white ceilings. Opposite of dingy. And a flat finsh for ceilings.

The Chantilly Lace suggested is super bright LRV above 90 without being stark if you like that idea go for it but Extra Whtie at LRV 86 is still bright.

I would paint the walls and ceilings the same color.

They have that now.

The treatment of the same color for walls and ceiling is a different issue than color choice.

I think Lyn meant whatever color you choose.....go for the same for walls and ceiling....which is the treatment you currently have.

Your walls lookk dingy becuse your lighting is yellow Change the bulbs to LED 4000K then see what Incredible White looks like it has gray undertones and works very well with other grays like your floors I do matte finish on both ceilings and walls and I like them the same color and for sure in spaces with lower ceilings . Your stuff the lighting and also the natural light all have an effect on wall color .

This is the second post I have read in the last 10 minutes where the home owner hates what the builder did; in your case the paint choices. Is there a reason you were not asked for input? Add to that builders are not necessarily designers.

Ceilings are painted in flat finish and if there is no ceiling molding, painting the walls the same color works for me, every time.

Have you changed the lighting, as Patricia suggests? One more thing for you to try, get a small can of paint, this time get a sheen...eggshell or satin, even pearl. Do two coats and see if the sheen will make the space brighter. Then all you have to do is roll the walls.

Incredible white is a taupe and it goes pinky in the wrong light. The cream woodwork trim is not doing the walls or ceiling any favor. So, another choice would be to paint. You could leave the walls as it and paint the ceiling and trim something like B.M Chantilly Lace...the whitest white B.M. has.

This was a spec home, and I didn’t pick finishes, it was selected by someone else who changed their mind about buying the house. If I had chosen finishes, I would have chosen flat white, knowing I’d eventually paint all the walls. The idea of doing a coat of satin in same color is interesting, maybe it will look better in a more durable finish.

I have always had white ceilings and off-white walls, which is pretty common.

In the right space, painting the ceiling the same as the walls can work, but sometimes you just end up with a drab cube!

You are paying for the walls to be painted, so now is the time to paint the ceilings if you really want a change.

I have BM Chantilly Lace for trim (semi-gloss) and ceilings (flat). Most of my walls are BM White Dove (matte).

For the entire house I had walls and ceiling paired SW Ice Cube in eggshell finish, all baseboard trim and inside exterior door in same color with a higher gloss. Open floor plan so everything works together and painter thinks I’m the best!

You mentioned "dead flat" finish as if it's a bad thing when flat or matte paint adds much more depth IMO, because with a sheen the eye has a shiny surface on which to focus.
