Entertainment Center?

last year

Are entertainment centers out of style? I recently purchased a new large sectional and I am considering doing a pottery barn entertainment center vs console table. House was built in 1970’s with the 8’ ceilings. TV is currently mounted on wall.

This will work in a 70s home.

Actually, imo, neither with the art option tvs have now. I'm setting the tv lower for lounging eye level. I guess you can put something under it.

You have one picture of the room. ..........You don't have a rug, and all else is hard to discern for the pile on the dining table.

Tidy up and come back with angles that show the space on whole.

You may need storage, ...but it need not come from an "entertainment center"

What are you going to do with the Christmas toys?

    Please share additional pics.

I see you need storage and also a lower cabinet for the TV I use Besta from Ikea for clients all the time. The line has tons of choices to give you a very custom look with the ability to choose exactly what you need . It also allows the TV to sit at proper viewing height, give you as much storage as possible and a bit of room for some nice display. This would give you aton of strogae and allow for a biger TV maybe later too Comes in some nice colors and you can even mix those for a great custom look When our kids were small we took 1/2 the presents and put them away after Cgristmas thne in mid year we traded out the ones on the floor for the ones we saved and by then we also knew which ones to keep and which could go.

Thanks all for the insights. I have new sectional couch arriving in a few weeks and I’m revamping this room order: round coffee table, rug, lamps, etc. TV is currently mounted to wall. All TV items are in a closet down the hall so I do not “need” anything under TV but want storage.

Very untidy house- lots of kiddos but it sure is a happy house 😁

New sectional ordered is from pottery barn. It sounds like most of you agree entertainment centers are not the way to go. PS I know I need a much larger console under TV. We upgraded TV

Nothing wrong with an Entertainment Center. They are no longer popular because TV screens just got too big.

The Ikea example from Patricia would work for your storage.

We have an entertainment center because we want to be able to close up the television when it isn't being watched. I like it a lot, but would like to replace it with a less battered and bruised version when we do some upcoming work on that room, and there are very, very few still made. We'll likely have to custom order something or else do built-in cabinetry. You'll have many more choices if you do a console table.

Besta cabinets are great. Get the 29 1/2 tall ones to create a wide console.

I like an entertainment center but a simpler design - not all the fancy moldings or bridge pieces.

I do like this off set piece - especially when you are using a sectional.

    Good luck
