Decorating help

last year

I just dont like my living room. I wanted a different entertainment center, but my husband wouldnt budge, so we compromised on this. It is mounted to the wall, so it stays. How can I decorate to impove this area? I also dont like the coffee table either. I was thinking about something round. Please help

If you husband doesn't "budge", you likely will get more suggestions if you ask him first what he will or will not be willing to allow you to do. The room has some lovely touches, a few too many pieces of filler decor, and the dark wall is exacerbating how narrow the area is.

I would love to see a photo of what you wanted for the wall. Guessing it was right on.

It always amazes me how many husbands I have met, who have suddenly become experts on decorating. And, to top it off I don't get paid extra for couple counseling.

Elcieg…… husbands have not become experts on decorating, they don’t want to spend more money on an item they already have that they think is fine. I know….i have a husband like that.

Well, it certainly is eclectic! Love the black wall. You have some interesting pieces in here. You just need to layer and make the entertainment center blend in. Then edit some of your other belongings.

Get a bench to put underneath the TV to obscure the bottom half of that entertainment thing of your husband's. You have the right idea with the two white stools, but I'd get something taller, wider, maybe a black seat, wood legs - even a touch of gold paint. It is fine if you see the entertainment surface behind it. The goal is to layer in front of it.

Place two larger pictures on either side of it so the wall has a tableau of three large rectangular vertically hung items. You can even frame wallpaper or fabric. Just something to make it all blend together in a series of three. Then add a floor plant to layer over the right most hanging piece.

I agree the coffee table isn't the best.

You can use two large ottomans instead of the coffee table. A tray when you want to set something down. This gives you and your husband more of a lounging together space like a sectional.
