need help with remodeling study (door)

Hello, everyone. We are planning to renovate our study area. Currently, as you can see, there’s a main entrance and two side panels.
While we love open spaces, we plan to put a temporary door there so that if we are having a meeting, we can shut the door. The contractor suggested that we put a pocket door made of glass. But to put the pocket door, we would need to close the two side panels

Alternatively, he also suggested that we put barn doors with hinges inside instead of pocket doors. Our home is somewhat modern, and we are remodeling it more transitional.

For reference, this room is right after entering the main door on the right-hand side.

Are there any suggestions for retaining the open space on the side or adding glass when sliding doors? Thank you very much.

I would consider enlarging the side panels to the same height as the doors. I don't think barn doors would be suitable in this home entrance. You can choose a style of doors that coordinates with your decor be it modern, transitional, etc.

Why not just a set of french doors in glass maybe I am missing something in the issue . Those drapes are forsure not transitional. Maybe a bit more info could help.

Sorry sometimes voice typing has a lot of errors!We recently bought this home and the previous owners had designed it in traditional way. The drapes and curtains will be replaced. This room was a dining room and we are converting it into a study as we both work from home a few days a week.

The room on the left is the one we are changing. The flooring would be all hardwood.

the downside with the french door is that once opened it will occupy spaces. Opening outside would not be ideal as the main entrance is right there. Please let me know what other questions you have.

Looks like a very large space and big enough to accomodate the door swing. no way would i put a barn door.

You can have French doors installed such that they fold back against the walls when open. I don't think I would have those side openings though if that's what you want to do.

I would put shelves in the two side openings, since you dont want to close them off. They serve no function now, open like that and will look a bit strange with the door shut, and the completely open sides. I also would use glass french doors for the big opening. Since it is to be a study, I really would not want those sides open, even if it was just a curtain that was covering the opening.

It's a contemporary home. No barn doors. Stop asking the GC for suggestions.

Even out the height of the opening so it matches the opening that is across the foyer and insert a set of hinged French doors with sidelights. The space needed for the swing of the doors should not be an issue.

While you're remodeling, repaint all those peach walls in the foyer & the rest of the house.

Eliminate all the dated overly designed window coverings.

Can you add a chandelier to the foyer area? That would add some texture to the space

Paint the entry doors a dark charcoal color.
