Don't know about Pa., but they are found growing wild from Cape Cod to Florida along the coast. In NJ, you can grow them just about anywhere, but only noticed native ones in beachy areas. They will grow on other soils and spread, as long as there is good drainage and sun.

Thanks for the reply. I had wanted to know if anybody in Pa, or anyone visiting Pa had seen them growing wild. I ask this because somebody had told me that I should see them growing wild in Pa, to just go looking for them, that they are there. So, I figured that this would be an easy way to know where they are growing wild. I've never seen them growing wild here in SW Pa. I am pretty sure they aren't growing wild here in SW Pa.

I'll just wait to see if anybody eventually replies that they have found them in a wild area here.

I highly doubt they are growing anywhere is SW Pa., Probably, not even, SE-most, Pa. It is a coastal/beachy thing

Wild colonies of eastern prickly pear DO exist in PA but have a very limited range and are classified as "rare" since very few colonies have been confirmed.

Okay, thank you, I didn't think they'd be here in SW Pa. The person who thought they'd be growing near me isn't from Pa. They'd just gone by what the internet says on distribution maps of the plant.
