I would improve the landscaping and fill in the gravel areas with native plants and grasses and get some taller lusher plants along the foundation - that will absolutely be the biggest bang for your buck

with the shutters gone, just need to work on the landscaping.

you can start your own stone business. I'd put a notice in the local paper... set a week for people to come and load up what they need for various projects. It will save the removal costs and you can start over with a simple plan. Please Post your progress!

la la Girl is correct.Much thought and effort went into developing the gravel areas,but unless designed to keep snakes off the property,adding greenery would much enhance the house.Except for removing the shutters and maybe choosing a brighter color for the door,the other elements like bricks and chimney look fine.

The rock landscape is great. People back East don't like rock but they don't have to worry about drought and wildfire.

I would plant just a very few taller ornamental grasses in the islands like Karl Foerster and Purple Fountain grass.

I would remove the shrub blocking the chimney.

Nothing wrong with the stone on the house. Fix the other colors on the house and get rid of the stone quarry in the front yard by installing native plants.

Before doing anything to the stone I suggest you work on the landscaping. Either install grass and flowerbeds or add a lot of native plants to hide all that gravel and/or replace the gravel with wood chips.

If removing the shutters you should consider enlarging all window frames, and if you need to keep the storm door, paint it the same colour as the front door.

No shutters but why all the stone stuff? I have gravel too since grass is not my fave but I have beds all around the gravel with perennials and some trees . The shrubs you have are all wrong . I can't see the stone well enough to have any other idea for siding color so the gray seems fine. I think it is the weird rock trimmed freeform shapes with the outline in larger rocks that is off for me . I think a much more structured landscape would suit this house better.THis is my fave for a MCM sort of style but more to just explain structural not like kids did the landscaping all those kind of freeform things do not suit the house you could even do fake grass and big boulders not all the tiny rocks edging

I am from the East but friends in Vegas. The rocks are needed and required in some cities in the west. No wasting precious water on grass or thirsty plants. And need safety zone from wildfires as we have so tragically learned. Remove the big bush and maybe the hedgy grouping near the house. Embrace the desert landscape. You have the rocky bed foundations. They need some elevated interests. Large/taller and probably expensive group of rocks in some of those large expansive rocky areas for starters. Then add in desert hardy and fire resistant (do they exist) plantings. Top off with a bright front door and matching screen door if needed.

Thank you @husterd for the reminder about not having vegetation so close to a house in desert areas. I'm revising my suggestion about foundation plants. I did like the rest of the landscaping. Keep on with interesting stone designs. You can still do the bright front door!
