Does this coffee table work? Im aware I need to add color next!

    It seems too small.

  • last year

it's too small, how about something with a glass top.

  • last year

I like the shape, but it looks small. That said, it depends on your use.

  • last year

I find it too small, not very functional and a bit boring. There are so many options and don’t add color/accessories until the coffee table is decided on.

Chairs could be pushed back a bit to accommodate a more practical surface and create more interest by use of accessories.

Consider adding some warmth. This table is 40” and with any table consideration, suggest taping size and shape.

Black will tie in nicely with the stools.

I actually tried larger ones and they were too big!

  • last year

If you like the size, can you get it in a darker color? It's too blah with the upholstered pieces and rug. But it seems like an oval one would work.

    Maybe use a pair?

Nesting tables might be a good choice…you can play around with length and move the chairs back if needed. An oval light toned wood might feel less imposing. I’d error on bigger than it feeling too small and when art and accessories are added, it will feel better balanced.

Agreed I think I need to go,oval nesting or smaller rectangle

I loved the Folsom nesting from pottery barn, sadly it was just too big and tall

Yes if the chairs eack have atable too so 2 end tables , lamps and then that coffee table can serve the sofa which is all it can do at that size

    Not a fan.

Consider a Japandi design with soft curves.

    Hope this helps.

Would the width and height of your couch work per the above info, regarding the Folsom table you like?

Thanks that’s super helpful! I’m familiar with those measurement guidelines and sadly the Folsom was too high.
My space is small so even though I have a 93 in couch, a 40 inch round coffee table crowds the space too much.

I love japandi style coffee table. I’m having a hard time finding ones though. Do you have links?

    Another option is an ottoman.

    I was considering an ottoman!

I tried this table. It’s not working correct?

    It’s perfect!

Not great, but might feel more balanced with chairs being across from couch (which doesn’t look possible). A square shape would be a better shape in this configuration.

I’d be going a bit too large than too small, so as to ground the room (which is needed) and also to be more practical. Maybe reconsider nesting tables as the flexibility of its length is an advantage regarding balance and even if one is bit higher than you want, the lower table will offset.

Don’t know your budget, but if interested go onto Pinterest, search nesting tables and you’ll be able to easily compare a ton of styles, and their dimensions/prices. Hope this helps.

This has legs to see the rug and is oval to fit easily.

Thanks @maureen I agree it looks awful. I just needed confirmation.

I think nesting tables would work well too. I’m convinced I just bought too much white furniture for the space and can’t return any of it at this point!

You just need accessories and the room will feel much warmer. You have a great base and search on line for inspiration: Japandi living rooms may be the look you are aiming for.

That is the look I’m going for! This is exactly what my friends are telling me too. I just need to add accents. The coffee table seems the hardest to find. I’d love to stay under $500. Thoughts on these?

They come in black as well

I like the wood tone and its size and unique shape should work well. You’ve put a lot of effort into finding a table and hope it works out.

I’m not liking the leg style of the last image - something chunkier or even a waterfall glass or acrylic (which would disappear) would work

@maureen do you think the ceramic table would work with the chairs against the wall like this photo?

First decide on the layout if narrowing down to these tables. I still feel the round is too small/light and the rectangle doesn’t have enough weight…if you have narrowed down to these, suggest the combo in 1st picture.

If you still have interest and patience, here are two that work with your budget and will ground the area. Wayfair (can’t attach links/filtered <$500 and maybe also search the $500-700 range).

The feel of a room that is grounded by the table. Of the two, error on the side of large vs small.

This is helpful! I agree, I need a larger table in a contrasting color. I am definitely still interested and patient. I have decided to remove the 2 chairs and put a console table in its place and get a larger area rug. Perhaps two ottomans under the console if extra seating is needed. There is just too much white upholstery

Update: I’ve removed the two chairs. I would like to put an open console table with two ottoman stools underneath for seating. Would that work with that large of a wall? I’m thinking then a larger rug, round or nesting coffee table and a large round mirror for above the couch. .

Ottomans are not a desirable choice when it comes to seating. Yourr tub chairs, on the other hand, look very inviting.
