Not a pro but I like that people can easliy grab something from the fridge without having to pass by the cooking area or the sink area.

You might consider a counter depth fridge with the island in front of it. Is there room to open the door?

I like the sink in the window.

Yes. I’m not sure how to feel about the current fridge placement

If you can open the fridge doors I think it's fine. Not just for grabbing a soda but the prep cook can work the fridge and island without bothering the cook or dishwasher.

i dont like the footpath to the sink. narrow aisle behind stools and every person ends up preferring path by fridge /stove.... [ because of retrieving from fridge too] and proceed to the sink area . solution would be a 2nd sink somewhere in the bottom half of island. is it a patio door on the right??

What are people grabbing from the fridge while you are making their meal?

Does snacks and drinks coming from the fridge usually go on a plate, in a bowl, or in a glass? In our house they do.m

Are most of your meals hot? or cold? And if hot, how many people are working in the kitchen, and who is the interloper?

New build. There are windows on the side. We have patio doors right past the kitchen entrance in the dining area so I’m not concerned with having an entrance from the kitchen. Im going to look into different fridge styles to see if I can find one that doesn’t stick out as much.

Can the fridge go in the upper right hand corner? In the corner to the right of the sink. That makes more sense. You won't need a counter depth fridge.

It looks like there's room for some counter space between it and the sink. It's how our kitchen is laid out and works great.

If this is the kitchen, maybe the entire plan needs a review.

I I see a kitchen that is 18 x 14 where dos the extra footage come from when you post the size on the drawing? You say 19 x17 how ???? I never plan a kitchen where the trip from the fridge to the sink passes the cooking area. I do not think the walkway in fronnt of the fridge is good but how big is the door of the fridge

Seriously thinking about switching the sink for the side and having the range on other wall

How do you cook and clean?

Honesty the ideal layout would be what you have with a prep sink on the island. If you switch the sink & range your cleanup space will be in the middle of your cooking zone, meaning anyone who needs to put a dish in the dishwasher will be in the cook's space. It's fine if no one ever goes in the kitchen when you're cooking, but it always seems like someone needs something from the sink. Your DW will also be in the middle of the cooking zone, so it will not be convenient to clean up as you go (which is my favorite part of having the DW out of the cooking zone).

That being said, why no sink on the island?

Definitely get a counter depth fridge.
