Living room layout ideas

I wanted to get thoughts on this layout for our living area. We are in a townhouse so the living room is downstairs. We tried a lot of different ways and thought this may be best but curious to get ideas. We plan on putting a side table in the corner between the reclining sofa and reclining loveseat. Thank you.

Can’t really tell based on that pic. What of the chair floats diagonally here?

Sorry. Was trying to keep that open as that is the path to the dining table are and kitchen

Try floating the loveseat opposite the sofa so the back faces the stairs. Turn the rug 90 degrees. Add end tables with a lamp or a floor lamp to add height somewhere in the room. If any natural light add a tall plant.

As suggested by @hinterior, I also think her proposed layout would suit your space nicely.

I realize its probably comfy, but those look quite heavy, lumpy and bulky in that space?

I don’t like sectionals, but in this case would work. Then add a swivel cochair closer to the TV wall to enhance conversation area

Thank you all. I was hoping to not put anything in front of the stairs (opposite the large window) as there is not a lot of space there. I like the idea of the lamp in the corner. Unfortunately I cannot do a plant as we have cats.

Since you say you don't have a loto of space for the sofa in front of the stairs, I show them in their present location but have added an armchair with side table, coffee table, end table with lamp, arc lamp, accent pillows, and curtains.

Wow, that's a large window behind the sofa? It's a shame to cover it up unless there's not a great view. Have you angled the loveseat in the corner to face the TV? Where the loveseat is now looks odd with a partial wall behind it. Then put the sofa - sitting fully on the rug - to face the window. Appears to be enough circulation room where there is wood flooring exposed beyong the area rug. The sofa gets the view of the TV, fireplace and window. Any tables and lamps will help, too. Show us if you try any new arrangements.

Thank you again. Appreciate all the suggestions. The window is not floor length but still a good size. I will try to send a better picture tomorrow.

Hi! Cat owner here. If you can’t do real plants, they make excellent ”faux” meaning fake plants. It would still give a dot of green and doesn’t need watering!

Sending some additional pictures of the window

    Thank you

We believe we will leave the layout as is with the sofa in front of the window and love seat in the L shape. For the corner I am thinking a glass side table and possibly round so it will break up the square look. Wondering what others have used. Thank you.

Yes that will look nice but I would use a wood Round Table you don't really want glass cat might get hurt some glass aren't tempered glass that shatters and millions of pieces

Good point about the glass. I will look into that.
