IMO that would be useless you need lighting that lights the stairwell not the ceiling and it needs to be larger . I also would suggest you do LED bulbs o save the hassle of changing them too often. Waht are the lights in the rest of the house ? Is this seen from the entry ? All those things need to be considered whn choosing lighting

I have visual comfort. The bell jar and Ian fowler. All brass. The hallway by the stairs have recess lights

Please show the other fixtures if you're not going to change them. If you're keeping them, have you looked to see if there is something available in the same collection that would work?
