Here is a question for you scrappy quilters

When I make a scrap quilt that has lots of white, or background, I have always tried to make sure that I use the same fabric in all blocks.

The one I am working on today has a lot of four patches, print plus white. When looking for some white, I found a bin of different whites left from other projects. The challenge is that there isn’t enough of one fabric for the whole quilt.

Have you ever mixed up that background fabric in your quilt? That would make it really scrappy, wouldn’t it?

I would like to use up a lot of these leftovers and still make a nice quilt.

Sounds very creative. Do you cut your blocks and then lay them out somewhere before sewing? Mix up all the white fabrics so the finished quilt doesn't look like you ran out of one dye lot and continued with another. I finished a needlepoint once for someone and had just enough of two cream yarns, almost but not the same. I stitched stripes instead of color 1 on top and color 2 on the bottom.

Theresa, I have found that I am doing just that more and more on the boat. I have lots of whites & creams of 1/4 yard or less and I mix and match them until they are gone. Please show your blocks when you get some finished🙂

The top is finished, just waiting for a good press and thanks to you friends, I did use many different whites, and to be honest, I can’t see any glaring, obvious differences.

Yesterday, I sat and tried to tame that bin, cutting, cutting and more cutting.

More today!

P.S. the name of the pattern is Giggles. Every time I looked the picture, I smiled. Check it out and see a very happy looking quilt. I hope I did it justice.
