What style door?

I want to update my front door to let more light in. i feel like my home at first glance seems MCM because its a low slope roof, but im honestly not sure what the style is? I believe mcm ranch…. but I feel like a typical mcm door with the rectangle lites is actually too modern! Any advice would be nice!

I'd begin by removing all landscaping around your home including the trees. Too close to your home and foundation. What a beautiful lot and home! Going to be a show stopper for sure.

i actually had a tree guy come out and he essentislly said the trees are in good shape, the two in the front. But i do plan on removing some others and updating landscaping when i can afford it!

i do plan on painting the trim and siding a lighter color, its currently brown, to go with the brick better, which i dont want to change at all! but if anyone wants to give advice there, i am more than welcome to accept!

I think a door with one rectangular lite at the top to mimic your windows would be nice. A gray/green paint color would look great with your brick.

If you want to lean into the MCM aspect, keep the trim a dark color, but use it also on the garage door and front door. I don't know that the brown currently on the eaves is the right dark color, but here's what I'm thinking of. It's not a great picture because the house isn't exactly like yours, but it's the only one I found quickly that is also brick. Also, even if those large trees next to the house are healthy I would still remove them. The roots could be undermining your foundation or damaging the sewer line. This happened to one of my neighbors recently.

Just piping in to say your trees are great!! I’ve found that the amount of tree roots fear most folks possess far outweighs the actual risks. And our planet needs them (esp if the trees are native to your area).

Oh Phylanda, jealous! I love this house, and while it’s not what you might want to do at all! But —
I would white wash the brick — light layer so the gold shows through. Put in those coastal style watered glass windows and door, paint the foundation white or charcoal grey. The brush in front goes and replaced with warm-color filler stone, giant huge pottery. The height of the windows allows you gorgeous greenery out front, lighting options, too.
    This house can be CREATED.
Have a wonderful time exploring and creating, and hope you keep us posted here or in before and after!

It is called MC modern because that is what it is . If this is not your style then we need info as to what style you like . IMO painting brick is the fastest way to devalue your home . Landscaping will do wonders and the front door will define the style you are going for . Just remember this house is always going to be modern so no Victorian front door for sure This pic is for MCM idea for landscpaing and also garage and front door ideas if you decide MCM is the way to go. I aslo think a walkways from the street is always a nice place to start landscping

There's no need to remove those bushes. I'd start by pruning them hard. ID them, prune them, make a landscaping plan and see how they fit. Have you lived there long enough to know if they flower?

Depending on the tree, most can be limbed up, meaning removing lower limbs to let in more light. That said, the one by your steps looks very awkwardly placed and if the trunk gets much bigger, it will block your entry. I'd consider removing that one.

MCM is often all one level. Yours is great. I love the brick.

You need a modern front door. Full light. Three square panels. Five rectangular panels. Could be clear glass or textured.
