Forgot to say… the contractor is already planning to do Santa Barbara smooth stucco. So soft and no texture

If the stucco doesn't need to be painted, I'd do navy for the trim, door and shutters. But a grayed turquioise for the shutters with gray for the trim and a brighter turquiuse for the door would work, too.

I love blue but this house does not seem cottagey enough...almost MCM. I think black trim would be fantastic for this house with white stucco.

It would pop nicely in the partially hidden setting.

@tracefloyd thank you! So this is what our original thought was as well. I started to hesitate because of the metal on the fence (we love it with the roof color cuz that’s all you see at first glance) but not sure that it really goes with the stark black and white. Either way. Thank you for your feedback!

@tracefloyd this gives me some confidence to maybe go forward with our original plan …you think it’s okay with fence and metal color? Should I try to incorporate that blue/grey somewheee on the house? It matches the pavers and roof.

I took the fence and roof colors into consideration and black and white seems a very nice pairing but you make a good point. You could go a dark charcoal gray instead of black paint, softer but the same effect.

The roof is not really blue/gray. It's a neutral cool gray rather than a warm gray. The fence is not an issue... also neutral and goes with the house. I think wood and metal is kind of naturally neutral anyway, and the metal goes with the roof for sure.

I would add color with just flowers and throw pillows, area rug. Terracotta clay pots would tie in the fence color and you have wood furniture. A large glazed black pot by the front door adds drama.

Cool, in case you missed it, I edited my comment to say Charcoal gray would work instead of black.

Btw I LOVE your fence and gate...so upscale. I was very impressed. I just noticed the pavers...nice.

@tracefloyd Thk u! We mixed some colors to try and give off character and warmth w/o being too dark. We love the privacy and ability for my dog to use the whole property when it’s closed. My only regret if I could do it over, is that I would spring more money and go horizontal around the whole property (not just the front).

Very moot point. It's a front gate.
