Interesting. Do you know what process and product was used to refinish it?

Not with tile, but the engineering wood floors we put in our new build had bold typed instructions in their specs sheet not to use blue tape. I told my GC and the painters ... I still had to go around after they set up in the morning and remind them or fix/remove the tape myself.

When I paint I have one large tarp that I move around with me and never use blue tape. Tell the painters to figure out how to work around it, but make sure you check in every so often!

Painters that can't cut-in are not painters.

^^^ DH says if you're a good painter it's faster to cut in without using tape. When you use tape you have to apply it very carefully which is time-consuming.

Lori- they used Fortify wax sealer.

I would worry, if they cant paint without using painters tape. It is a very rare time, I ever use painters tape for anything. If I did have to use one, it would be the yellow frog tape, never the blue. Buy some rosin paper and roll it out around the room, so they dont get paint on your floors.

Yes the tape will damage the finish. Maybe they are trying to spray the walls, but you need a new paint crew

That finish sounds very delicate but I agree any painter worth anything does not use tape at all. I even rarely use tape only when doing windows .
