On the coffee bar, i was going to place shelves between the two upper single cabinets but would it look better to eliminate those two single cabinets altogether?

You’re right about the floor i went through a designer in choosing the floor and have regretted the choice . i have a large light coloured area rug on order for the living room

As mentioned above the house cedar and the flooring gray.....you have hit your limit in wood finishes. Confine the white cabinet to ONLY THE KITCHEN. It looks harsh enough as is.

You don't want any more of that in this space.

The white bookcases on the other wall advance into the space in white. They should also be dark.

Your room needs a larger ceiling fan on a 6 ft drop pole

I would contrast your seating with a deeper colored area rug

Get rid of the clock over the mantle. Replace it with something more visual for such an important location

I'm not sure your patterned ottoman works in this space. Depending on the rug, it might need to change to solid.

The white cabinetry is workable. Your problem is that you've mixed woods - warm in the cedar, and cool grey in the floor, and this is causing a big disconnect in the rooms. I'd add a large rug in the living room area that combines the two wood tones, whites, and adds another color - green? blue?

BeverlyFLADeziner, the coffee bar and table go in the same space. We removed the table to work in the space. It's a small 2 bedroom home. The 0.5 pics make it look larger than it is. Would the coffee bar doors work better if they were a dark color?

Part of the issue in this room is that you have NO OTHER COLOR IN THE ROOM.

Green would have been a good color to introduce into this room.

I love Beverly’s suggestions and agree with the other comments and suggestions here. You have a beautiful home here. To me, it cries out to be cozy and my eyes want to see some rich color. The other thing that struck me right away in your pictures is that your sofas look out of place, with the modern design and leather finish. Perhaps another place to add some rich color and warmth via fabric, if that is feasible or something you might want.

I'm loving the suggestions and reading every one of your comments. I truly thank each of you for taking the time. I realized too late the choice of flooring was not the right one.. It has changed the outcome of what I tried to achieve. I love warm and cozy and was promised by the designer I was working with that the flooring was the perfect choice. I.ve regretted that choice a lot but am now trying to work with what I have

Rugs and furniture in color (see Beverly’s suggestion) will make this space cozy. You need to “tone down”the impact of the not-so-great floor choice by adding warmth. Area rugs that complement each other will help to give the space more personality.

Do NOT buy a grey couch! I would go for a warm olive green, a navy blue or deep burgundy red in a cushy sturdy velvet.

Very nice space. The seating seems too close together...I would move the sofa back and spread out the seating further apart and get a very large area rug say 11x14 or so.

Try centering the ottoman under the fan to start.

A caramel colored leather would have been a better choice. It' works with the wood on the walls and ceiling.

Beverly, yes, changing the couch to a cognac/caramel/cinnamon is on my list.. love the caramel suggestion. My hubby likes his recliner so I've been looking for a reclining couch that looks similar to the ones in your pics. The entire space needs new furniture including dining chairs and end tables, possibly bar stools. ( dining table will not be replaced )

Another problem I'm having a difficult time overlooking is where the patio door is (cannot be moved) and my need for the storage the coffee bar provides. I don't like how the table is not centered with the patio door. I just couldn't figure out how else to add the storage needed. I do all my own harvesting and canning/meat processing. The house has very little storage space. The tiny main entrance (mostly for guests) also needs a refresh as well as the laundry room. My thought is, if I can get the main area figured out, it will be easier doing the other rooms ? At some point I'd like to paint walls and doors , add floor runners, change lighting etc.
