Look at a home store for transition strips or thresholds. They are tapered and not the toe stubber that you have. That looks like a random scrap of wood he had laying around.

Take a piece of the flooring and a tile and go shop for a better threshold. Contractors always want to throw these white toe stabbers everywhere.

A marble (and engineered slab like corian, quartz, etc) is the historical method of transitioning from tile. Some might prefer raising it too, which is meant to "hold" water inside the bathroom, but I haven't seen that consistently done. It is a matter of preparing the area to fit the 1/2"-3/4" threshold to sit flush, and working with a bevel if it has one.

If a prefab threshold doesn't work, then you'd probably want to mill one from wood to match the hardwood. They'll have to scab under the doorstops that were undercut.

Prefab thresholds often do not fit your circumstances to allow a flush surface or span the width, and also whether you need to overlap one of the floor finishes. Milling guarantees it, it only requires a table saw.
