Wall color paint recommendations (TWO; prefer Ben Moore)

I have a "den" with a nautical theme that I would like to repaint, and I am seeking paint color recommendations from this wise community. I currently have an orange accent wall, and the rest of the room has yellow walls (shown below). I like having 2 different colors as it is shown, and I would like to focus the room color selection to complement the painting above the fireplace (painting shown in pics). I actually do like and have enjoyed the orange and yellow currently on the walls, but thought it might be nice to change the colors since I'm repainting to give a new feel. I am typically a vibrant color person, as most of my house is colorful... but in this case I am thinking of going more traditional with a dark teal on the accent wall (Aegean teal, ben moore) and maybe pale oak for the rest of the room.

However, I trust this design community a lot. What do you all recommend here? Should I keep the colors the same, or change them?? I know it's a tall ask but it would be awesome if possible recommendations could include specific names of paint colors, and I like Ben Moore because it's carried at my local Ace Hardware.

I would use that lovely painting as the inspiration for colors for the room. I'd stop calling the theme Nautical. Too limiting.

I'd start with a new rug for the room and select paint colors after that.

I believe you are wise to change the room colors to BM Aegean Teal and BM Pale Oak.

even BM Beach glass is a pretty teal option.

a larger area rug to ground the furniture (at least the front legs on all the furniture ON the rug)

The Yellow/orange combo does not complement your art, or the colors in your furnishings.

I'm no fan of an accent wall, but I can see how much you love it! Using two colors in here really makes the white trim appear to be a third color rather than just an accent trim. Does the view of this room visually connect to other rooms? Would you consider swapping out white trim for pale oak trim or do you want the same trim througout your house?

Hi Kendrah, Thank you very much for your recommendation. If I were to paint the fireplace and trim with pale oak, what do you think I should do with the white ceiling? Just leave it white? To answer your question, the view of the room connects to the living room, which also has a white painted beam going across the top of it.

There is NO need for two colors. The fire is a beautiful focus, but is being diminished by the book case, wide and over loaded,

Please take pics all angles, and if you really want help? A drawing of the room with all dimensions is extremely helpful to us, and to you.

How does this room connect to the other rooms in your home?

Do you have a whole home color palette?

I have the feeling you are compartmentalizing the house and not looking at it as a whole entity.

I don't think Pale Oak will look good with your floors, but the lighting in the pictures makes it difficult to really see what color the flooring is.

You want the walls to act as a backdrop for your art and things in the room and flow naturally from the adjoining rooms.

This is an example of a whole home color palette that has more colorful walls.

I may go for a navy wall and have your art professionally framed with a lighter, more rustic frame.
