Furniture layout and style, help!

Living room is 10ft x 17ft. What is the best furniture layout? Would like to add more seating, if possible. Struggling with the narrowness of the room and finding modern pieces and a rug to match the couch. Couch was a gift and must be used. TV will be added to the room and Peloton removed. There are 3 walls - 1 with a window and sliding doors to a balcony. TIA

Mom or Dad bought the couch?

WAH..... Personally, I'd thank her/him and say "I realize you meant so very well , and I love you for that, but..........!!" and then SELL it and get one you like.

You don't buy a couch for anyone, you give them the money.

Find an 8 x 10 RUG you love, an accent chair, a 24 x 48 coffee table. Have a place to dine, or set out food or friends. ...Don't ask mom. Do "you": )

Does that seem impossible? Wellll I would buy nothing to go with a couch I did not really like. The rest of your new home is your expense, and that is why.

( dimensions are on the floor plan above )

Show some rooms YOU like for more help.

An ottoman can be used with your existing couch for eating and lounging, for using a laptop.

If you decide to replace the couch.-

I don't see the value of a table and chairs for this size space.

I would align the sofa with the slider so it's closer to the TV. Leave room to walk behind it to reach the door.

It's a three cushion with arms. call it 84 to 90"

Or look at the visual on a ten foot wall and a foot to the left and two feet to the right. Close enough: )

It's too far back from any tv.

I'd float it until I sold it...plus it's an exit with a left handle patio door

doesn't appear to have a decent spot for stools

This rendition is being presented with suggestions for your consideration. We sincerely hope it helps.

We added black accents in the furniture only because it goes well with your new couch. BTW, what a kind and generous gift. Couches tend to be pricy.

    In this rendition you see:

    • One 75" TV on a long console with storage.
    • Four floor lamps.
    • One round coffee for ease of walking in and out of the room without hitting your shins.
    • Three small guest chairs that are 28"wide and 33" tall. They are rounded because it makes it easier for folks to walk in and out of the room without bumping into a corner on a chair. This is especially good in small rooms.
    • One small dog bed. So very important!
    • Two thin side tables on either side of your couch.
    • One large piece of art over the couch to add color and balance out the room with the TV on the opposite wall.
    • One 8'x8" area rug. Suggest you find one that is neutral in color only because a patterned one will make the room feel so much smaller.
    • One Cafe table tucked up against the end of the counter in the kitchen with two stools. You can add a stool for a third person. and put out of the way somewhere until you need it.

    Best Wishes. MAE
