That turned out beautifully! I love doing flanged bindings for that same reason. So many of my quilts are for charity, and while I am not crazy about the stitching on the back either, my guess is 99% of the people that receive them would have no idea that it shouldn't be that way.

I have found some fabrics at Hobby Lobby, also and most seem to be pretty good. It will be harder to find inexpensive fabrics now that JoAnns is going out of business.

Donna, that’s a very creative version of the original. I like it a lot. Please explain how you did the inner border around the central star pattern and then set it among the squares and half squares.

Lois, I had a leftover block and 4 sashing pieces that I put together for the center. I had the idea to make the corner triangles out of 2” squares, and the center needed to be 1” bigger to fit. When I got the corners sewn on it was telling me it needed another 1” border to go with the inner one. 😁

Quilts do talk to us, don’t they?

Lovely work, Donna. And I guess , I would consider that extra line of stitching on the back, part of the overall quilting which shines on the back.
