Go with a plain, single-colored countertop for sure.

Solid color countertops. Polished chrome hardware. ORB or black will just look like more wood movement.

the kitchen is tucked in a corner. Put a clean white subway backsplash/ put a white solar shade at the window...[or similar] Use very light gray or near white counters. I think the way the kitchen is tucked back and care w the next level of details youll be okay. I cant say I think the wall color is the correct shade but you are busy w the kitchen right now I see.

The paint is the same thru out the entire house… but I agree that maybe the kitchen needs a focal color on that wall. The buildings and rooms are all barn reds and browns, so not a gray, but I like the idea of white.
Our table and benches are dark (this is the catalog image of what we ordered). The decorative elements are legacy and made of a lot of black painted metal.

you maybe would have thought these kitchens would have the same "gasp" at your stage when you see all the wood etc..... but look how things turned out so well. I do think lighter walls / and then your personal decor.......clock/ art/ mirror etc. You dont have high ceilings so think carefully . Good Luck w the project.
