Corner Sidesplash or not for Laundry Sink?

Hi. Redoing this small laundry room wall and we will be tiling a backsplash. We’ve needed it but house came this way and just lived with it. With the corner positioning, what do I do with the side? Functionally, we need it…this utility sink gets used a bit and there’s a good amount of splashing. But the recent votes and trends are no sidesplash because it never really looks good.

Is there a creative way to do it so it looks “good”?

I suggest a solid surface backsplash, such as Corian. It looks like you may have a Corian countertop that could be matched. Round the top edge to make a finished look.

Attach a towel bar to the bottom of the cabinet. Add a light under the cabinet, too.

This would be a good time to move the electrical outlet to a safer location away from the sink.

The current countertop is a junky formica counter and will Be replace with quartz. Are you suggesting that the side does not match the tile backsplash? Or are you saying do both back and side splash as a solid piece and extend the countertop (we don’t really have the budget for that though 😞)

IMO function first if that wall gets spashed you need a side spalsh

It is a laundry room, not your living room, so utility should come first and not the latest trends! I would tile, to keep the side wall clean and protected from water.

Find a tile that has matching trim/edging pieces and it will look intentional and properly finished.

Since you are getting a new quartz countertop, you could run either tile or quartz up the side and back. A finished quartz edge or tile trim pieces would make it look better than a plain right angle edge.
