I joined a quilt guild.

On the bus ride to the Road2CA quilt show, I sat next to a woman who was also attending alone. We struck up a conversation and spent the whole day together. She invited me to attend a meeting of the Coachella Valley Quilt Guild, which I did. It was really interesting and had a great speaker, so I joined. There are quite a few of us "snow birds" who are members. It's a huge quild, about 200 members. Their meetings are also Zoomed, so I can attend while I'm back home too. Plus, I made a lovely new quilting friend.

Sounds fun, Lois! My neighbor across the street is in the quilting group at her church. They make donation items for lots of local groups. In addition to quilts they make walker bags, burp cloths, bibs, pillowcases, etc. She invited me last week. I will probably keep going. I had three quilts ready to donate last week, and they will get the one Old Town that I am donating.

Nice to hear that, Lois. My sister in Lakeland, FL joined a large guild there and,she is loving it, too. Have fun!

Char, I was born and grew up in Lakeland! Small world. Where does she live? I grew up on the east side. My hubby’s father and sister still live there.

She lives on the south side in the Lakeland Highlands area. I was there last month and she brought me to her quilt shop, Fabric Warehouse...nice place!

My DH lived in that area. They moved to Lakeland when he was a sophomore in HS. I haven’t been to Fabric Warehouse in ages! I guess now that Joanns is gone (or going), FW will be the only fabric store in town.

They may have to expand! It's a pretty small place, but they have it packed to the ceiling with gorgeous fabrics!
