Im assuming you are in west coast Canada. Im guessing the 1st plant is Tellima grandiflora and the second plant is Doronicum pardalianches?

Yes they occur on the west coast. The Tellima grandiflora(Fringecups) is native to the upper northwest, and the Doronicum pardalianches ( Great Leopard's Bane) is introduced from Europe. Both are desirable for gardens. Tellima is closely related to Coral Bells, Heuchera), Foamflowers, Tiarella), and Bishop's Cap, Mitella diphylla. They are in the Saxifrage family, Saxifragaceae.

Leopard's Bane is in the sunflower family Asteraceae. It has a large yellow flower in the spring, wheras most Asteraceae that have large yellow flowers, bloom in late summer.
