What's your idea of contemporary? What don't you like about the house right now? You should create some ideabooks with inspo pics, clearly labeled and doable. It's fine to use a completely different house for a color scheme you like, but a lot of people here have MidMod and what Craftsman or Victorian and want modern. If what you want is too far from what you have, you'll be better off selling it and buying something more to your taste.

Frankly, the trendy thing right now (a trend I hope is going to be tired soon) is white paint with black trim and multiple sidings. You already have clapboards and shingles, so you have that.

I think you really need some shrubs around the brick in your back.

Looks fine to me as is. "Modern" to me would be changing the garage door to arch lights, new front door to a full lite with no grids and changing the windows to no grids as well.
