Please draw and post a little pic of the room with all measuremnets including doors. List what kind of furniture you want, whether you need TV here, and how many people you need to seat.

We have that but I need more info Where does the sliding door go to? Adults and kids or just adults for seating I would not try to fit a TV there if at all possible but the slider is going to be an issue if access is a must. I usually find a sofa and chairs are the best for awkward spaces maybe a pic or 2 of the space might help along with some more info

Start with a 9 x 12 rug you love. ( dotted line)

This layout shows an 8x10 rug with a sofa, lounge chair and accent chair. The TV is in the corner.

It's not so much about size of the room, it's all about "traffic" and moving through to other spaces.

Rugs are meant to be walked on!!. You have 12' by 15'

That leaves 18" on the two long sides...both

and same on the short sides both. As long as door bottoms clear? No issue and a larger feeling space. You like 8 x 10 or it saves money, okay....!

Depends climate and how OFTEN you see yourself using balcony as well. If a condo with a hall entrance? No dirt is entering, and neither are wet feet.
