Victory disease?

What's going on with my Victory here? One eye/shoot seems to be fine and the other one, as you see here. I've had this on other hostas in the past but just pulled off the affected parts. Would like to know the problem and solution.

maybe Southern blight?..Google Southern blight and look for a link from the Missouri Botanical Garden..I like that site and trust it..I've never mastered sharing links on Gardenweb or I would..

there were other reliable links too if your search doesn't show the one I mentioned..

The Hosta Library has a section on pests and diseases that might help.

Southern Blight,I think, comes later with hot temps, and has telltale tiny orange balls.

Babka..I did notice old_dirt's photo didn't have the tiny orange balls..I wondered if they'd come later..I don't know much about Southern blight..it was just a thought..

Maybe….botritis, bacterial leaf streak, or bacterial soft rot…..just guessing.

Does it smell? Am assuming one of those bacterial rots. If not smelly I think you can get away with removing affected part and spraying fungicide/ bactericide on the rest. Make sure keep it more dry?
