Hi remodeling opinions on above range microwave

I want to remove my over the range microwave, looking for ideas on what to put there. Cast iron display?

Also looking for ideas on or thoughts what we are leaning towards.

light tan quartz counter,

brick tile backsplash above cabinets and above range

will be replacing electric stove with gas range

will be refacing cabinets to a similar color without the orange, brushed nickel hardware

The expected replacement would be a range hood. It's considered necessary to have some sort of ventilation at the stove. Your brick behind the stove will be a magnet for grease. I would choose a product that cleans easier. It appears porous.

As above. You need to have some sort of exhaust/ventilation fan. Also, agree with no brick behind stove...cleaning will be challenging and I don't think it is the best choice with your selected counter.

you mention orange..the only tone that is close to orange is the floor. if you stripped and refinished the floor it would be cheaper than refacing the cabinets.

You’re installing a gas stove, which will give off noxious fumes...in addition to various toxic cooking effluents. You need a real vent hood above the stove, not something decorative. Unless you don’t care about the health of your family.

As others have said, brick is a terrible choice for a backsplash, particularly behind the stove. It’ll be very difficult to clean.

Check a Frigidaire slide-in induction electric range. Faster, stronger, safer and easier to clean than radiant electric or gas. It requires less ventilation power than gas.

Are your cabinets in excellent shape? What is your cost for refacing? I have heard that it can sometimes be nearly as expensive as new cabinets.

Get a hood with exterior vent for above the gas stove. It is really different than cooking with electric and you will need to vent.

The bricks look outdated and will be a PITA to clean.

I think it's brick look porcelain, I still don't really care for it in the looks department personally.

But to answer the question I agree you need ventilation, whether it's a hood or an external vented micro (not ideal but better than nothing) *especially* if using gas.

If you don't like the look of the stainless chimney style, you can use an under cabinet hood.

I kept the OTR micro in my renovation even though it's out of style. My kitchen is small and there is no where else I wanted to put it. But I vented it outside, which again is not perfect but better than I had before!

ETA I have an induction range.
