Walls can be very helpful in small spaces - you need places to put furniture if the rooms are too small to float them. The living room area looks that way in the listing photo, and in this case I'd probably choose to leave the wall as is. Move in first and see how it lives is my advice.

If a sofa, I would leave the wall as a barrier, if planning on using it for display or buffet, I would expose the countertop.

Did you just move in? I would live with the space for 6-12 months before spending money on things that aren't broken. I don't love black counters either, but it wouldn't be the first thing I change out.

I do not think 6" raised counters hide anything unless all are either seated or less than 42" tall. I do however agree no major work until you find out how this space functions for you. IMO a very odd placement for the range and also is that wall load bearing in that place or does it have stuff in it that is hiding. I can't see the whole layout and IMO the black counters look great in the space . Just wait for a bit before throwing money at what looks like a nice clean kitchen that might be perfect as it is but only you will know after 6-12 months what needs changing . Realtor pics are always distorted so not a great way to figure out the space .

I’d leave the wall, too. In our kitchen, one end of the peninsula backs up to a traffic lane behind the living room couch and has a wall like yours. It holds a built in bookcase for cookbooks, stops the bar seating from looking llike part of the living room and prevents things spilling into the ”hallway.” I dislike dual level bars for seating, but this is not that.
