Island pendant lighting with low ceilings

I am looking at these pendant lights for my island. Island is 106 inches long and 48 inches wide. Problem is ceiling height is only 7 ft 4 inches. Do you think a 6 inch rod will look too short? Thinking about possibly not doing pendants at all. This is so hard! I'll take any suggestions!

Not every island needs pendants, but it does look like your kitchen needs a bunch of recessed lights.

I have 12 ft ceilings and didn't do pendants over my island. I wanted the eye to look through the kitchen space and out the large triple windows.

Yes they will be putting in recessed lights. They just didn't cut the holes for them yet

With your lower ceilings, I think pendants might not be the best idea. I think many kitchens look great without pendants - I think I'm going to skip them also for my renovation (even though my ceilings are a little over 9').
